DOES IT IMPACT THE POTENTIAL OF A BIG NAME ON THE KNICKS IN 2010-2011?
The Heat are in talks with Lamar Odom about a potential deal to bring the supremely talented (yes he is) forward back to Miami. Additionally, Miami is in talks with Utah about a trade that would bring Carlos Boozer down to South Beach. The combination of D. Wade, a PG, Odom, Boozer and Jermaine O'neal as a starting five with an improving Michael Beasley and tough guy Udonis Haslem coming off the bench. They could definitely contend in the Eastern Conference.
The impact of those potential/looking more and more likely moves (although the Odom one is rather questionable because LA would be stupid to lose him) could mean one more guy off the list of potentials pearls of the 2010 Free Agent Class.
I still think LeBron is going to sign with Cleveland. He is from there and the Cavs have shown that they are willing to get big players to help LJ23.
D. Wade has been looking for help in Miami before signing there. If he gets the above help, I have to imagine he will sign. Miami is a great basketball market to begin with.
Amare and Chris Bosh will certainly become free agents. Amare is hitting his prime as the Suns are in the twilight of their run. This season will be the last hurrah. Chris Bosh is an incredible player who plays in a bad NBA market. Toronto is an afterthought and he wants to play in the big time. Of all the guys, I think the Knicks are most likely to land Bosh.
The problem is, he, more than a smaller player, needs guys around him to play well. The Knicks are lacking those guys. However, the Nets, are in far better shape from a player development standpoint. But, with Bruce Ratner apparently looking to sell the team and the Brooklyn idea all but over, does a superstar really want to play in East Rutherford or Newark? Only time will tell if a venue outweighs talent... or perhaps, neither team will sign anyone!?
